Days One Hundred Fifty Three through One Hundred Sixty Four…

…So I fell behind.

But it hasn’t been laziness or busyness. I really just hit a creative wall.

My thoughts turned from the art and spent some time on the technical things that I need to work out, such as Lightroom upgrades, which Photoshop should I invest in, and which lab will meet my needs while I am a non-pro?

These are random shots acquired during these weeks. I couldn’t tell you which days were which...

Day One Hundred Forty Nine

The Best Weekend Ever!!

…Well, in recent memory, anyway!

We picked our college girl up from school. This time, my husband and I went alone instead of taking the whole family. It was a peaceful trip.

Love THEM, but loved this time alone with my guy.

We gathered our daughter and met some of our closest friends for lunch, where we visited for two hours and left with pie and muffins. Yeah. Yum.

The following day, back at home, we went to church, which never disappoints these days. Afterward, we walked in a beautiful city park until the rain came.

Maybe I’m just getting older, but I loved the rain today.

We then dropped the boy off at his aunt and uncle’s house and took the girls to the amphitheater to see the long anticipated concert that was the bulk of their birthday presents.

They got really wet, but were able to fully enjoy She & Him with Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward.

Here’s the official concert tee (so I’m told):

What happened to us? Well, we enjoyed Robin Hood and each others’ company.

(though I think my husband slept through a bit of it. He doesn’t remember anything about bees)

We grabbed a hot drink at Dutch Brothers  and visited with my brother and sister-in-law before we picked everybody up…

More days like this. Please.

Where My Heart Is...

Day One Hundred Forty Five

I live in Central Oregon, and the best part of that for me is that we have WAY more sunshine and blue skies in any given year than most of the rest of the Northwest. This year, however, this has been little more than a rumor or a fading legend.

It is nearly June and I have yet to see clear skies this week.

This is a shot resulting from the excitement I felt today as I saw an honest to goodness shadow. A shadow means sun, no?

Camera on, framed, metered (no… don’t go!), focused, and…

If you squint and use your imagination, you’ll see the tail end of it. It’s a shadow of the bottom of the porch spindles… see?

That’s all there ever was on this day. Maybe tomorrow.

Day One Hundred Forty Two

Mother’s Day, Redeux.. .

Actually, I’ve been wanting to share more of my gifts since the one from my son showed up on Day 127 (I believe).

Mother’s Day has been muddled for me ever since my oldest was born in May. Ten years later, plus one day, her little brother was born. Their sister is precisely in the middle- five years from either end. This compliant one, however, was born in July, which doesn’t bump up against any other family event. But, just to be fair, we’ve moved two times on her birthday week. I know. Kinda smells like getting even, doesn’t it?

Back to Mother’s Day...

I believe that Mother’s Day, more than a day for me to kick back and be waited on, is a day for me to reflect on these blessings that are my children. They are my greatest Earthly treasure, and, yet, not mine at all. I’ve given them to God.

My youngest daughter knows how I love her artistic heart and I treasure this card she colored for me. The flip flop keychain is no small deal, either. I had “oohed” over it at Old Navy one day. She remembered and went back to get me one. I love the colors. I love her.

My oldest, as a complete surprise (since she’s in her Freshman year in college) bought a book for me that I had been wanting for years. It came in a beautiful bag. We met her at school for her birthday, and she completely floored me with her thoughtfulness. Love her, too.

Day One Hundred Forty One

No one in my family likes anything on their pizza except for meat and cheese.

Tonight, I sliced veggies and added them to “my quarter”while talking to my daughter online.

We debated olives for awhile, and then my battery died.

I didn’t exactly nail the shot, but it was a fun evening…

and the pizza was delicious!

Day One Hundred Thirty

There was an event at Hayward as we dropped our daughter off at her dorm.

Ashton Eaton was there- I heard his name called for an event. I’ve met his mom…

See anything you like?

Our white Camry was feeling very honored (and a bit intimidated)

to be in the very presence of this lovely machine!

Day 0ne Hundred Twenty Six

If I’m being honest, and I don’t want to be anything but, these next several posts are going to represent the days while running around, celebrating two birthdays, Mother’s Day, and the loss of my mom.

All were taken in the “time frame”, but some days I shot a lot and some days not at all.

That’s okay, because, when I took on this project, I told myself I’d do it my way and I’m not going to quit over a technicality, such as twenty-four hour slots.

I hope this won’t offend the sensibilities of those who are sticklers on this matter. My apologies…

I came home from work, and this was on the door.

He made it for Mother’s Day, but he “couldn’t wait”.

I love the things he wrote about me...

Some days hold the best surprises!

{Buddies}

These guys have been tight since they were four.

One is mine and one is in my Kids’ Club class.

Mine was having a bad day and Logan was there for him with a hug and a smile.

He’s the best kind of friend! : )
